Kansas Update and RANT!
Our new neighbors never, ever shut.the.fuck.up!! It doesn't matter what time of day it is ('cept maybe 6 am) they are making noise. Last night there was some sort of speedy type car and we must've had to listen to them rev the engine until I thought it would explode at least 30 times. We left for a little night-drive to look for the post office and other things we need in the area and counted something like 8 cars in their driveway. None of them look a day over 19 and I mostly want to punch them constantly. I'm not even sure exactly how many of them are living there. We share a driveway - it starts as one and then branches to our house and off to theirs. So this afternoon I could hardly pull into the driveway and then had to drive through our yard because dumb fuck in his huge ass truck was blocking the entryway. I love this house. I love our yard. I love the neighborhood. I hate our neighbors.
P.S. We finally have a phone jack now and consequently phone/internet service. Hurrah!

Call the cops, they're probably breaking city ordinance.
Ditto above. Call the codes enforcement people on your neighbors and their multiple cars. In Shawnee, they will write up violation notices over ANYTHING. You can get as petty as you want too. One of my mom's neighbors was written up over the location of his trash cans.
And the codes enforcement WILL NOT tell the violators who called and complained.

I won't be calling the cops.
I still have to live next to them.
I think my best approach is to nurture a relationship with them that would allow me to be gently honest at some point.
be honest first and then lay on the codes enforcement. it's not the same as the cops, but it's got the same "guess who called them" factor.
find neighbor allies who feel the same as you do.
it's funny (to me) to hear a description of neighbor suckage that is exactly the same as what people get in the urban core but blame on mexicans or blacks or whatever ethnic group they don't happen to be themselves. may i presume these boys are generally caucasian?
One of our neighbors introduced himself and nearly instantly began in telling us about that house. They're really just college guys being college guys I think -- honestly. Hangin' out, enjoying summer.
You may indeed presume such, tracy. They are. White boys.
