I got in trouble this past week at work and I just can't shake the way it has made me feel. My feeling-like-a-failureness has been amped up bigger and nastier than before and I don't know how to handle it. Part of me is like oh F it! Who cares? So I got in trouble. I'm not getting fired. And part of me would kick your ass if you flat out told me I suck but if you try to say it in a more subtle way, I'll probably agree and sink. Hate these qualities about myself.

I have similar personality traits. I am all bravado and badass when in a directly aggressive situation, but you insinuate, or imply or something similar, I am all, "Yeah, I totally blow."
Ruminate much? Stop. It doesn't do you any good. So you messed up. You're not perfect. It's ok to not be perfect, and it's even ok to mess up. We chastise ourselves because we don't like others calling us on it, and we're not quite used to it when it happens, which makes it feel worse than it is! This is the irrational side of you trying to take charge. Don't let it. Shut the voice up. "Shut up, you!" After all, you're human.
PS - been meaning to ask you as a new mom, what's the best baby item you received that's been helpful to you? Got a friend due in August and want to help out.
thanks, guys.
bleh.
I need to be cleansed. heh.
Melinda.. let me put some serious thought into it and get back to you. I always loved when ppl put lists on their blogs like "things they couldn't live without with a newborn" or "stuff that is totally crap don't buy it."
i vote for ass-kicking. even if it's just a mental vision of one. while i agree w melinda, i also think, jeez sometimes you just have to get your rocks off with a nice imaginary pummeling.
I have "feeling like a failureness" a lot. Everybody does. Don't stress! And I've gotten in trouble at work too. Everybody does! Don't stress! Feel better?
